A leading Australian provider of control system engineering services is looking for passionate engineers to develop their careers and experience new opportunities with their organisation. 

Qualifications & experience

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in an engineering role within industrial sectors
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably in consulting or a related industry.
  • Understand electrical wiring and panel building based on ELV and LV designs.
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritising and delivering complex tasks with competing demands
  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices
  • Have strong organisational and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form
  • Chartered Engineer – CPEng or equivalent
  • Knowledge and proficient use of AutoCAD, MS Office, (Excel, Word, Project)
  • Extensive knowledge of standards for electrical practice areas (AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008)
  • Experience in Hazardous Areas (AS/NZS 60079.14). 
  • Experience in Functional Safety and related applications
  • PLC/SCADA system design and development
  • Industrial communications, network design, and development
  • Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, or Schneider platforms
  • Client focused with strong communication skills
  • Experience in Hazard Identification, Risk Management and application of Safety in Design including practices such as HAZID, HAZOP and CHAZOP.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Create electrical schematics, diagrams, and drawings for electrical systems and equipment.
  • Design electrical systems and components for new projects or improvement of existing ones.
  • Select and specify electrical components, materials, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and technical staff to determine project requirements and design specifications.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit analysis, and coordination studies.
  • Verify that designs comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, such as bills of materials, test procedures, and project reports.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and vendor submittals.
  • Communicate with clients and contractors to resolve design and technical issues.
